There are many individuals in Wisconsin that suffer from food insecurity. Food insecurity is defined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as the lack of access to enough food for an active, healthy life. Frequently, the lack of access is due to limited financial resources. This means these individuals and families are one unexpected bill away from having no food in their homes. Some households can’t stretch their paycheck far enough after having to pay lodging, medical or transportation bills to cover buying groceries. With skyrocketing food prices compounding with other pressing societal issues, it makes it very difficult at times for people to put enough food on the table.
According to data from a recent Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap study, the average cost of a meal in Wisconsin is a$3.91. If we all were to give a little, we can do a lot. Some organizations can stretch your donations so that just $50 can feed a family for a month! A donation of any amount helps when combined with the generosity of others. Please consider donating today!
